Probably quite similar at legal speeds, corrado seems to shine most after 70mph.

TBh my 140PS fiesta feels pretty fast, still kinda tempted by an ST but not as keen on the new shape fiesta

Never selling it! Maybe put it on the road, I just wanted to get it running so I can get it in and out of the garage to clean it etc. The engine's been rebuilt (over a very long period!) so some vehicle cautious running in now once I've sorted out all the tidying up of pipes and wires, got the brakes cleaned and piped back up, fitted an exhaust - it's quite noisey at the moment! Going to sort some kind of permanent number plate light this time round.

Only trouble is that a decade ago it would seem I was a bit slimmer than I am now so the seats are a bit tighter than I remember. It wont be a comfy drive!

I've fitted a non power steering rack, binned all the pipes and pump etc. new ball joints, track rod ends, gone over to wheel studs rather than bolts and some 10mm hubcentric spacers on the front for a Grande Punto to clear the brake calipers, I had a 5mm and 3mm doubled up before and wasn't happy with it.

Getting genuine parts for these cars and engines isn't as easy as it used to be, a lot seems to have changed in 10 years!

Funny, I remember this stage with Nova's around 7 or 8 years ago, the actual representation at shows was tiny but then over a couple of years all the old ones that had been sat in garages for years got recommissioned and they become peoples hobby again.

I saw a post on Facebook recently where someone was in a similar situation trying to get one that hadn't been used for years back on the road.

Part sourcing is getting more and more difficult but 90% of things are still available very cheaply. I recently had to get some rear stub axles shipped from Germany as they weren't available in the UK anymore but £15 delivered I wasn't really bothered

I had to get a turbo oil feed made up as no longer available, improvise with a headlight screw plastic fitting, pattern oil filter as the old VOF93 has been replaced by a new part known for being no good. Just stuff like that really, other engine fittings we've come across no longer available where we've had to make do.

For some reason my EML isn't working at all, had a test light on the wire and the feed from ecu is working and good news I just discovered is there's no warning light when running but need to figure the issue out why it's not coming up on the dash. Cant get the cluster out cos the speedo cable's that short I need to disconnect from the gearbox and im in a suit today so maybe a job for tonight.

Plenty of people giving me grief over it being a "shoddy old corsa" but I'm pretty certain people used to say that about old escorts, golfs etc. too!

there is no exhaust noise, I have a cat back and you still cant hear it inside, the ST will have more refinement, (some 1.0's dont even have an engine cover)

you do get the intake sound symphoser, but ive bought the mountune bung to block it off, in an atempt to hear some exhaust but even then its barely noticable.

Mine doesn't have an engine cover, thought about it and why have a lump of plastic on top of an engine no one looks at, and it just gets in the mechanics way when servicing.

What you think of the new shape fiesta? am not as keen on the rear lights now, plus the 1.0 is now £140 tax instead of £20

the 1.0ls cover is a block of foam from memory,
the st's is plastic with sound deadening, it makes a surprising difference,

The new one looks similar to the corsa, (not that ive put them side by side)

I dont like it, wont be trading mine in for one,

Changed the gear oil
Put a helicoil in for one of the 2wd conversion plate bolts and tried to remove another with an easy-out snapped inside it(that's staying in there that one), refitted and re-sealed it
Ordered a new K&N
Wired up the boost gauge illumination
Tidied lots of wiring in the footwells
Refitted the kick panel with ECU behind it (Christ that was hard work!)
Removed the old CD changer from 2003
Loctited in a stray wheel stud

Think that was about it yesterday

It's not 'out' at the moment (don't be so ridiculous - it's raining!). It's on a ramp awaiting me to bring it out, just needs a few final touches... new speedo cable, distributor oil seal, new air filter, intercooler needs straightening, sort the horrific looking wheel alignment, straighten the steering wheel and pop the bumper back on. Then an MOT, tax and insurance maybe.

Air comes in through the gap on the right, and deflects off the heat shield towards the filter.

Be no hotter than the standard airbox that sits on top of the engine.

Your engine will be sucking thousands of gallons of air in per minute, it will be drawing it from all sides of the filter, most of it will be warmed by the engine.. This is why factory air boxes are sealed and have cold air feeds..
