Was driving through my little old town a few days ago and spotted a Bentley continental convertible with the "51R" reg. It must be worth an asbsolute fortune.

Anyone know/able to see who owns it? I cant imagine anyone that rich to be in my town, other than a brand new costa opened at the start of the week. Which is the only big named shop on the high street really.

The other weird thing is askmid says its on a Mercedes 350, but google images show it on the same black Bentley.

Probably hasn't long been transferred over and all databases aren't updated yet.

172 thousand pounds plus all the fees if you want to buy it and as it goes, that's not a bad price for such a cool number plate!

51R is apparently owned by an Indian businessman, or was in 2003

The area I see it and the road it was coming out of especially is Defo somewhere you wouldn't expect to see one.

Wonder if it still is this Indian and what shops he owns.

Assuming it's legit, though. Because as crazy as it sounds, some supercar/hypercar owners have amazing cars, yet rig up number plates they don't own to look even more flash. Maybe that's how they think they can get away with it, I don't know. The one I'm referring to is an Indian guy who owns a Bugatti Veyron, he's a multi millionaire property guy yet had BS1 as his number plate, yet he didn't own it and was totally illegal lol he got in trouble in the end and removed it. Was on his Aventador for a while until he sold it.

He's had that plate for at least 10 years Tom, he used to go to my old work often and I remember seeing it when I first started there

5 cant be a UK format plate though can it?
I thought the shortest was 2 digits. 1 number & 1 letter in either arrangement.

A relative of mine has 8P on his Discovery. I'd imagine the CEO of BP would love that plate.

Correct.

8P... That'll be worth a lovely amount! I'd hazard a guess at around 75-100 grand probably quite easily!
