Rather than having 3 threads for our cars I will just keep everything in here, the first few posts are older stuff from previous threads. I will try and keep this updated (famous last words!)

Purchased this in 2012

Because of this

Soon became this

Then got this

Then over the last year or so we have moved house twice, bought a dog, and planned a wedding for the end of November, so the cars got put on the back burner apart from essential repairs and maintenance.

During that time the Barina snapped a driveshaft, exhaust broke, windows got tinted on the VXR put a precat decat on it and also put some new tyres on it.

Over the last month or so the Barina has been getting some attention, the focus being to make it purely a track car (albeit a road legal one)

A few pics when we cleaned then just before we moved a couple of months ago.

Then decided to get the GSi sorted, the power steering pipe spat its guts everywhere, luckily it was just the pipe joint that had come loose, so was an easy fix

Next was dealing with the oil pressure light coming on, thought it could not be the switch as I replaced it 12 months or so ago so I dismantled the car to get to the spring in the oil pump and cleaned that up. Lucky I did this as I discovered 2 rotten core plugs in the head.

Sorted them, so took the sump off to check the pickup pipe wasn’t clogged up, and it was all ok.

Some bits and gave the PAS pump bracket a quick touch up

End of day one (I think)

Next I repaired the exhaust (will be getting a new pipe made up) and gave the underside a quick coat of stoneguard, the rest it done now.

Primed the roof rails, door handles and scuttle panel ready to be painted gloss black and washed all the crap off the bumpers, etc

Then onto the paint work, we will repaint in the future but will be wrapping it for the short term. As the paint was feckered we had to get the surface as good as we could, the kit was primed and smoothed to get rid of the textured finish

Also painted the wheels black, not a brilliant job but will do until we find some 15’s that we want, cleaned and stoneguarded under the arches and painted under the arch trims as there was some bare metal

At the moment the car is sat in the corner of the garage ready for wrapping which we will hopefully start on Sunday.

Recently we have been looking for a third car, something to have a ‘blast in’ We very nearly bought a 1988 Sapphire Cosworth that has been over here since ’89 so was rust free but it wasn’t 100% what we wanted and nor the right colour (really want a S1 RST Escort again) so would have felt like a waste. After browsing around we looked for something cheaper. After looking at 2002/3 HSV Clubsports and finding they weren’t what we wanted plus heard about the attention they attract from the police, drinking fuel and handling like a boat.

really do like the Holden's over here especially the UTE version! Seen one on my first night with a whopping bonnet which must of the biggest supercharger on it as the noise was immense! For such shitty road laws Australians have immense cars!

Excellent selection of cars, silver (grey) suits them perfectly. Would love to see pics of them all parked up at what looks like a very nice house.

Makes me want to move abroad just seeing this thread

Cheers for the comments!

Had a few weeks off due to getting married and having family over so much hasn’t been done.

Been buying a few bits

Still got new droplink dust covers, bottom arms, speakers, service parts, etc to come yet.

Fitted arm rest, freeway driving requirement!

New key as the spare I had was knackered

Fitted new turbo to FMIC pipe silicone hose as the old rubber one was collapsing on itself, will do until I get some hard pipes made up

Also raised the suspension 10mm to make it a bit easier getting on the driveway, may bump the front up a touch more

A pic taken by a mate after he washed ‘em

Also the Barina has 2 front wings wrapped, so more updates soon.

VXR has had some tailored mats fitted.

Excuse the last 2 pics, he dropped his iphone making camera go crappy.

Thats about it for now!

Pain in the arse if the car has to be inspected. Had to do the GSi 3 times. You have to have them checked by an inspector and a report compiled, then send this to the DOT, then get permits, then get it checked, etc.

Insurance is easy and cheap though, all mods covered except roll cage, harnesses and NOS.

Done a bit on the SRi

New handbrake gaiter, relocated I/C spray switch from ashtray

New gear gaiter and wrapped centre console as the crappy rubber surface was knackered. I am going to get a standard console when I get chance

Relocated boost gauge from on top of the steering column to the a-pillar

Also bought another Barina as it was too cheap to pass up. Bloody silver again ffs!!

I am going to see what it needs to fix it, but more than likely it will replace the GSi and I will put the 2.0 in the silver one. I really don't want to scrap the GSi but it needs quite a bit of work and to be honest I can't be arsed as we just want a cheap track car with a/c.

Plans over the next week, work out what to do with the Barina's, new bottom arms, droplink dust covers, wheel alignment on the SRi, oil change on both Astras.

Dave

Been a bit slow on the updates due to an operation fucking up, getting there now though.
Just a few snaps I have been taking.

Engine out of GSi

Stripped of any bits I needed, shell was mint, and scrapped just needed a new tailgate but some bellend had butchered wiring, etc.

T'other one in

Engine out

XE in

Make one A/C work out of 2

A/C on

Electric PAS, just had to get one custom pipe made and managed to use the PAS fluid reservoir holder for it.

Last pic I took

Just got to refurb the 2.0 brakes, regas aircon, wait for new wheels to arrive and few more odd jobs then I will run it as it for a bit for lolz plus also moving house, and then repaint car and GSi kit at work, or may sell it or keep it, I don't know, my plans change weekly
