they do lack confidence, because they arent playign well... and they arent playign well becuase they are set up all wrong... admittedly some of that has been down to injuries but you still have the players for the 4-2-3-1 which is the only way to go for big teams right now

Sherwood is also bollocksing on with a stupid 4-4-2 and its no surprise hes been hammered by the only 2 decent teams he faced (we were much better value than a 2-0 win, but thats not our style this eason it seems...)

In fairness to Sherwood he won the tactical battle at Swansea by surprisingly changing to 4-5-1 having played 4-4-2 in previous away games at Saints & ManU.

Sometimes I watch some of the teams that are struggling (like ManU) and I wonder why they don't go back to basics, flat 4-4-2- a right winger, a holding central midfielder, a creative central midfielder, a left winger and two strikers.

One thing United will have to get used to is that lower half teams carefully plan which of the top teams they think they can get points against .... over the last 15 years you often saw the lesser teams rest players for Old Trafford away and almost write the game off. Those teams would then turn up the next week against Arsenal/Spurs /Liverpool ect with a full strength team and a completely different attitude.

I heard Allardice and Pullis talking about it on a radio feature last year ... they would go to the chairman with a detailed plan for each game of the year explaining which games they intended to win/draw and which ones they expected no points from - they would work out how to meet the owners expectations then try to execute that plan - they would then be judged on the plan they had put in place from the start of the year.

Last few years it has been Arsenal/Spurs/Everton/Liverpool that those teams have targeted for top half points - now its going to be Man U that get targeted for cheap top 4 points - that makes every game hard for them. Its been a long time since newly promoted teams are going to Old Trafford with a real belief they can get points.

I hope City stick 5 or 6 past Chelsea this evening, I just hope it isn't the usual big game involving a side managed by Mourinho i.e. a nil nil or the 1 goal on the counter if you're lucky.

It would be a better title race if Chelsea won or the game was a draw. A defeat for us could send us out of it.

A defeat for us is the most likely outcome, but we could spring a surprise.

Good shape from City with Demichelis there, allows the wingbacks to get forward.

Chelsea really should of made the 4 on 1 count. Theyve been surprisingly attacking for once

Can't argue with that, after the first 10 mins or so, Chelsea have dominated pretty much, City really miss Aguero, just doesn't work with Dzeko and Negredo up there
