Hopefully I'll be able to sort it nicely, I am a designer for a company which designs and makes bespoke furniture I'm thinking of keeping it pretty minimal, so a bit different to how it is now...

Mortgage is sorted, solicitors have been paid (deposit at least) and the survey is being done today

Now time to wait, and wait, and wait some more...

Amazing how long this stuff takes.

Something like 4 months when I bought my flat. Had an offer accepted on a house beginning of Jan and, as yet, little news! Grrrr

There seems to be a tonne of posting paperwork back and forth between everyone with this. I'm sure time could be saved if the solicitors all ran electronic offices, but I guess they've not moved onto that yet.

Still, it's not been that long and Christmas was right in the middle of it all

Posting stuff like that is so outdated. More solicitors need to do email. Would probably save a month at least.

Mine did 99% of things by email with a copy sent in the post. Meant I could return things the same day. I requested it from the outset.

They don't get to charge the same amount for email as posting

Kind of hope mine takes a while to go through, will provide opp to save a bit more moneys for decorating etc.

Flat looks good ed.

They do. You're charged for your time not for a sheet of paper. Only item that has to go by post iirc was the deeds so the originals could be signed.

Was following my missus around Urban Outfitters in Southampton earlier. They have all that exposed brickwork stuff in there. Reminded me of this thread lol.

Got the keys and took a few piccies

First thoughts are that it needs a bit more work that I initially anticipated. The kitchen is pretty worn out, I thought I'd just change the doors but I think I want to do the carcasses as well. Fortunately the worktops are granite and just need re-seating and polishing.

I thought the floor was laminate but it's actually engineered timber so I can sand the nail varnish and stiletto marks out of it and re-varnish. Also there are gaps where the plasterboard hits the brickwork. It looks like the filler has shrunk and left a messy joint everywhere.

Either way, I'm dead happy and I think I've got most of my weekends filled up with DIY for the foreseeable future

Such a cool place.

The stuff to put right will keep you entertained for a good while. Better than not being able to do anything and getting bored.

The brickwork in the master bedroom is one of my favourite bits too. I think that once I remove the, errr, illuminated headboard and get it all redecorated it will be my favourite part of the flat.
