Ever since I fell off my bike back in June I have been going to a physio & personal trainer. The sessions began as rehab to get my shoulder fixed and has gradually progressed onto training. The last 4 - 6 weeks I have been working on Romanian Dead Lifts (RDLs) and Goblet squats with kettlebells. This is primarily for technique and to concentrate on getting my core sorted/contol. I have now moved on to full dead lifts and other weight exercises with the kettlebell including bent over row's and alternating press. This isn't to become a body builder but improve strength and protection on the bike.

Anyway, I need to get on the protein and he has recommended an Impact Whey Isolate from MyProtein.com but unfortunately I'm lactose intolerant. He suggested a Soya Protein Isolate but this also plays havoc with my IBS

I'm waiting on advice regarding a Pea/Vegan blend but I wondered if anyone else uses a non-whey or non-soya based powder?

Also, without going mental on 6 meals a day only eating chicken, what other foods can people recommend to keep the protein intake high? Nut boxes from Graze? Plenty of tuna and/or chicken sandwiches at work?!

Split red lentils have nearly as much protein as chicken. I have lentils in soup, they're bland as fuck on their own but I don't really give too much of a fuck what the taste is like.

Quinoa, a source of complete protein which is gluten free and as your lactose intolerant a source of calium as well.

30grams 6 x per day, every day.

Workout is Monday, Wednesday, Friday then 2 days rest.

Mesocycle 5 x 5, 5 x 8 then 6 x 6 on the exercises.

I tried pea protein and that still tried to kill me (I have IBS too) iv just resorted to trying to eat as much chicken/tuna as possible now

I have some myprotein vegan stuff that I was given
Will start using t today but my brother raves about it, he's using it for similar reasons to you as well

Chicken, tuna, steak, eggs, milk, peanuts. That's not a meal, that's kinda the stuff I eat in a week.

Don't bother trying to eat 6x30g servings unless you really enjoy doing so.
You aren't going to see any advantages over just eating 180g of protein over 3 meals, its the same amount of protein at the end of the day when you go to sleep.. and thats what matters.

If you eat more than 30g in one sitting you arent going to waste it, your body will just use it later like a trickle.

Here's some examples of some foods from my myfitnesspal that are pretty high in protein.

pre packed chicken.


Pork mince, nice for making burgers.


also, bulk powders sell lactose free whey protein

& if you can eat things like bread and egg's you probably wont even need to buy protein powder to get 180g a day.

Dad does a mean smoothie with banana, blueberries, apple juice and soya protein.

Sit rep. New programme is painful. And soya protein is weird.

No Delhi-belly yet but got s really strange taste. If I put 30g in a 650ml shaker, how much milk do you think I should go for?

And what other snacky type foods do people suppliment protein with? Peanuts?
