I took the old suspension off which is a crappy G-max -60mm kit. I removed the top mounts (i think) and put them on the new coilovers and put the whole lot on the car. Then i dropped it down and this happened -

Also the wheel rubs on the smaller blue coil lower down !?! -

and these are the bits i have left from the old kit -

What have i done wrong please ?

Thanks

erm, you have missed out the top plate from the top mounts

In the top pic the thing protruding from the top of the suspension turret should be underneath it.

it's held down there by the round metal plate (4th pic - bottom row, second from left)

I got Alloy topmounts at the same time as coilovers so i never took the topmounts apart, so there may be some more bits missing

The rubber bit would normaly sit on top of the spring (but i dont know if coil overs are a bit smaller?) then the large plate sits face down In the rubber. Next the smaller alloy piece with the dome facing up. Push it all through the car and as you have already done put the top plate and nut on!

Dont remember seeing the orange bit when i did mine? maybe its an extra piece of bump stop someone added in the past?

The orange bit was a bump stop i got with the G-max kit.

Think ive got it now, just had another play, so i dont need the 2 large black bits on the right of the 4th pic ?

Have heard that coilovers are not designed to go with wide rims, but standard so they will catht the springs coz they are lower down the leg and wider than standard ones..

et 42 makes up for the extra width of the wheel. That offset pushes the wheel away from the car and shock, so those 7mm can in effect be taken off the width of the alloy compared to a et49 standard rim.

The spring diameter is smaller but the spring is in a different position.

Something isn't right. Contact the company you bought them off, did they mention fitting problems or modifications required? If not, and a mod is needed, then you could get your money back.

Maybe 17" will not rub coz the shock is angeled inwards and a 17" rim edge will be higher up on the shock leg compared to i.e 15" rims..

its the adjustment cups which can foul the wheels as they are longer. m2rv_h has just had to use spacers on his et45 17's becasue of this.
