Are these any good? From what I can gather they remove the requirement to have somebody sat in the car squeezing the peddle between opening and closing the bleed nipple, and simply suck through the open nipple until (clean) fluid appears.

Sounds nice and easy on paper, but has anybody actually used one of these kits with success - and if so can you recommend a good kit?

yes, deffo needed, get them on amazon, the eezi bleed.

I bought one, it worked fine, no problems, lost it, bought another and literally every connection leaked. i had to seal it up with silicone before i could use it.

You don't even need a spare tyre.

Just use the wheel that you have removed in order to bleed the brakes in the 1st place.

Does that not mean you'd be left with a flat tyre?

You would be left with 4 tyres with some air out of them. They wouldn't be flat though as iirc the kit dosn't use THAT much air. Just pump them up with a tyre compressor thing afterwards.

Gunsons eezi bleed for me aswell, halfords stock them too if you dont want to wait for amazon. Just read the instructions and reccomended tyre pressure as you can do damage with too high a pressure

Seems a decent bit of kit. Can a monkey operate them? I paid 50 quid for a brake fluid change as an add-on to a service, but if I can change it myself i'd be better off and know it's been done properly (not just sucked out and filled back up).

yeah, quite easy really, i bled the whole system on mine doing each nipple twice and seemed to work. You have to do them in an order, usually furtherest from master cylinder first.

you just have to keep checking the bottle still has fluid in it otherwise it will suck in air and you have to start again.

What do you think the proper way is if you think "sucked out and filled back up" is the bodge way??

draining it all out, and re-filling using the bleed nipples.

Others have told me that some people don't even use the bleed nipples, hence it'w a bodge way.

I got an advisory at my last service that my fluid was a bit contaminated, so I'll be looking at a complete swap.

From what I can gather, it's just a case of keeping the tank topped up with new stuff, and pumping from the nipples till the dirty old stuff stops flowing and the new stuff starts. Probably an easier task if you use a different colour fluid each time.

Should never ever drain a brake system unless you want extra work! Always flush!

How do you think you drain it. Plus you refill the reservoir not the nipples.

You drain using the nipples, refill the resvervoir and then bleed the air out using the nipples.

Don't fucking facepalm me I meant drain it by sucking it out the top, wiping the resovoir with a cloth then re-filling without touching the bleed nipples at all.

ahh I see. Well ive never heard of this happening and am sure that this could not get much of the fluid out and would leave one seriously spongy pedal with loads of travel.

That wouldn't even be possible to do that.
