I just ran a bit thick line across the top of them and then put a nice big blob on every bit that sticks up. Also around where they are countersunk for the front arch.

Press on. Tape on. Wait

Look for where the clips would sit as theses sit closer to the car, I've also run a bead of sealant across the top of the back part of the skirt, have some pannel wipe or brake cleaner to hand to remove any sealant that may squeeze out.
Hold the skirts to the body with masking tape until dry
