Hi guys, looking for a bit of information from anyone in the know, I was pulled tonight by the police for "travelling with fog lights on when visablity is not reduced" however I told the guy that they are not fog lights, they are led bulbs and are used as drl's (also wired into my sidelights), he then says that they are additional lights that are not needed... what about all these new cars with drl's as standard and strips of leds are not illegal as I had them on a previous vehicle, Anyone know if these are still classed as fogs or led drl's ??

By the look of the ( ), you also know that they aren't DRL's/Sidelights, so just pay up and accept what you've done.
These are DRL's/Sidelights not fog lights. Although I haven't had a copper pull me over for it yet, just people flashing me. It does annoy me though where Skoda have put them.

Fucking winds me up people driving round with fog lights on, I'm sure its just moronic people that see new cars which have drls and think they need to do the same without realizing the difference. Usually oldies doing it round here.
The aftermarket kits are even worse, see 15 year old escorts with 2 strips of leds on the centre just makes me laugh.
Pay the fine and stop using your fog lights as drls.

whats the crack with new cars that have a fog light come on when you go round a bend, often looks like they have their fog lights on and one is out.
must get some knobhead copper that doesnt know the difference?

Fog lights are designed to work best in foggy conditions, hence why they are at.the bottom of the bumper.
Drl's (oem ones, not ebay toss) are designed to be used in daylight and not dazzle oncoming traffic.
Led bulbs in a fog light housing is still a fog light, so the copper is correct.

Last time i used fog lights was some time in 1996, after market DRL usually bought from ebay, prob not E marked make me laff when you see 7 of leds not working.

And I think most cars look boss with just the fog lights on. Makes them look low and mean.
See a lot of newer Mercs driving around with just fogs on. Looks cool! 
Don't get why people are mad about it!? Sure, it's blinding in the dark, but then I hardly ever see cars with fogs on after dark.

Cheers guys, well I knew they werent drls or sidelights, the only reason I wasnt aloud them is because of the position (in the fog light housing), if they were anywhere else they are okay as you can put any amount of lights on the front of your vehicle as long as they are white and dont blind folk. These were mines
Sidelights are brighter than them, I too hate proper fog lights being on all the time but cant see these as foglights, however I have taken them off now and I was only cautioned about them.

It's got markings on the headlight switch for fog lights, but you can't turn the dial that far. But then there are no fog lights on the front even though there is a position to turn them on.
