started to play golf alot more and would like to get a better set of clubs, got around £500 to spend dont want a bag so all the money will go onto clubs
i know im probably best to go to a pro shop but they are too expensive so does anyone know anywhere slightly cheaper?

Blades or Cavity Irons?
I have trade accounts with all golf brands, I don't sell or stock online. As my accounts are purely for golf balls. Spend enough on them to keep them open and can make purchases as and when. Worth asking me when you come to a decision on what clubs to get for a quoted price.

Rzr x - 5-PW = £340
Rzr x - 3-PW = £455
Tm R - 5-PW = £415
Tm R - 3-PW = £480
Tm R Max - 3-PW - £615
And thats me rounding up to nearest £5, so add whatever delivery is ontop.
Edit: Regular or Stiff shaft prices same.

If you're just starting out don't bother with a driver. If I was you my bag would be:
3,5,7 wood
5 iron - sw
A putter you feel comfortable with.
My local pro always has some decent second hand irons, maybe worth asking around.

There's a percent of discount I can get with each supplier ontop of trade price, Taylor Made are Adidas, and i've got no discount, proper shit terms, so prices will probably be same as online.
Titelist I get good prices with, have you got your heart set on those two sets?
I'd be looking at 2012 irons, with 2010-2011 woods. 2013 irons are out in October, so 2012 sets should see a reduction of around 10-15%.

Right reading what people have said and they are right! I never use my driver because i cant control it and i currently have a hybrid which i use alot
I want a driver because i need to learn how to use it!
Maybe drop the 3 iron for a hybrid then?

Have you got an American golf near you? Most of them they have a testing area which I'd test a few drivers on or can you not hit one at all?
I'd definitely sack off a 3 iron for a hybrid but that's just personal choice.

I play with a second hand set of ping i3 irons which i bought off the club pro. They were £125 and i had them fitted to me aswell.
I would not play any better with a set of £600 irons, the money is better spent on lessons.

Go to a pro shop and get them to sort you out. They can price match and you will get a much better service.

personally if I was buying new, I would take a 5-PW, then buy separate 1,3,5 wood and a separate putter.

Any of the Mizuno MP range are top notch irons. Recommended.
You need a driver. Learn to use it. It takes pressure off on the longer holes if you can drive it 250-300 yards.

I'm another Mizuno fan however the mp range are for mid to low handicaps and you may struggle with them. I have the MX25's and they are a fantastic set of clubs
Also you don't need a driver when starting out in my opinion. It great when you hit a good one in five however it is a difficult club to hit and may cause you more problems than its worth on the course. I've actually just done away with my driver and bought a strong 3 woodland it has made a massive difference to my game

On the driver point. You'll only improve if you use one. You'll never shoot low scores unless you use one. Your development will plateau if you don't use one.

Dont necessarily agree with that comment on the Driver, my Dad and I play of 8 and 16 respectively and both dont use Drivers

Of course a driver will vastly improve your distance of the tee, especially on par 5's, but on the 4's I sometimes prefer hitting a 4 iron 210-220 just to hit the fairway. If you aren't on song with your driver you can shoot some horrific numbers for just not being accurate.

If, by your own admission, you are shite and just play for fun, DO NOT buy a set of expensive clubs thinking they will make you better. They won't. In time they might, but you will get better quicker with clubs that are more suited.
When i started playing last year, i bought some Mizuno MP (can't remember the number, but they were pretty much full on blades) from my boss who plays off 5. I played ok-ish with them, but no where near the full potential of the clubs. Infact, i played better with some generic Slazenger's. The Mizuno's were solid to get a good hit with for me. Even guys who i played with, that were better than me, said the clubs were hard to use.
I would say get some lesson's if you want to start using a good set of clubs.
And also get a chipper, awesome club to have in the bag.lol.
