Apex are suppose to be quite stiff.

I'm sorry but I completely disagree. Somebody in the trade of design and manufacture of suspension systems for specific motives is going to know more then the average dude on here who only wants to look scene down his local Maccies.
There will be a select few on here who will no doubt know how to make a Corsa do what they want it to, but the first port of call should be a specialist.

So if you ring eibach or Apex you get engineers on the phone giving you free advice specific to a corsa B and not sales people trying to sell you their products?? K then

I guess you can go to a tuner. For example if I wanted an impreza set up for a specific application I would go to zen for e pert advice/products and fitting/geo. I would most probably get what I wanted but it would cost ££££'s. can't see you doing that Nic tbh for budget reasons.


Aldo fair enough if you agree with previous poster but if that's the case then the whole creation/existence of this thread is pointless

I was agreeing with Tim that people that make them will know more than people on here as not many people will buy them for any other purpose than to lower a car. That's what I meant Seth.

I made this to ask people without coil overs what they found most agreeable. There isn't a right answer, I was just wondering what other people rated as such.

Havn't you just upgraded the front springs?? If so, why don't you use the old front springs on the rear??

Are you running coilovers on the rear??

Depends what the internal diameter is, but if its the same as the fronts then they should fit in fine. Might be a bit too long though.

Yeah it's Gäz stuff. Front springs are 11inch in length and 1.9" centre hole. Will have to taken them out and measure. Rear adjuster is seized anyway so need to come off.

Budget is exactly why I mentioned AVO and Gaz. If I thought Nic was prepared to spend thousands I would be directing him to the likes of Ohlins, Nitron, Intrax, Proflex, Reiger, Exe-TC etc.

Col004 has custom rear Gaz suspension, still on pigtail springs and seperate shockers done to the spring rating he asked for. He asked for advice and recomendation of Gaz what to go for and they supplied a product for his Corsa.

My friend Martin Fox of MEF Motorsport has complete one off AVO 2 way (as in slow bump, slow rebound damper adjustment with pre-set fast speed damping) remote reservoir coilovers front and rear for his M3 engined 1 series BMW rally car, he also had a custom set of Citroen C2 R2 coilovers done by AVO too, again to suit his requirements.

Both of the above didnt cost the earth, and both got a service they are happy with to suit they're requirements. You are not going to get this personal service from the usual £200 suspension kit companies. They are generally there to suit the usual street wise customer who quite simply wants to lower his/her car.

Not all companies like you seem to put to it are just out to grab your money, some actually want to help the customer improve theyre vehicles with a good degree of customer service and satisfaction thrown in too. With suspension systems, you really do get what you pay for in both product and experience!

see i have this daft thing where id still like to do 1/4 times the same way i can drive it to work. sounds daft i bet, but thats a road car doing road times.

it does currently, and thats not really any good for doing 1/4s. i dont want to kill the car for road use just to do better 1/4s as i drive it about more than i race it.

Can't you fabricate something that can be fitted to car for drag runs to Get rid of the squat the be removable for fun driving

Well make it so it can keep original shocks and this piece be removable as and when needed or just make a solid shock if that's possible

Yeah either or it's not like your going to hit bumps is it so shouldn't do any damage but strengthening mounting points might be an idea

Try some solid shocks then surely that's what specks and the likes run or are they on solid ladder rear beams if that's the right term

How it should be.

I would just remove the springs you have on at the moment, measure up the length and I/D, and find some suitable higher poundage springs from Rally Design or Faulkner (cheaper via Demon Tweeks).

nic i have two suggestions mate:

or

2. if its just for the strip, do away with suspension, get some old scrapper dampers, use the threaded bit off the top and the bit off the bottom and put it on solid bars like this

i ran 350 fronts and 450 backs

loved it,
mate who hill climbed his ran 375 fronts and 600 backs

no need for either rear arb either so weight saved
