Too much for me im afraid, got to buy a house/get married etc.

As for the leather you mentioned, scuffmaster kits are widely liked. I will be trying these in the next few weeks.

Not to worry you but I've read on cutters that it's a sign the sub frame is cracked. It probably isn't but that's deffo one of the signs. Have a look on there.

It's probably fine John. It's a vastly over hyped issue like most car dramas on the Internet.

Can you describe the thud? The gearbox and diff are primarily designed to be used hard, they aren't as smooth as a 330/Alpina etc so you will hear the diff rattle if you go over bumps at low speeds and sometimes some gears can clunk a bit. It's IMO a characteristic of the cars I've had 3 ///M cars 5spdman, 6spdman and 6spdSMG all have had slight clunks and trans noise. It can be a little unnerving, I shat myself in the Z3 thought the diff carrier was loose or something. I was rightfully told its part of the character and you get used to it.
4years 3cars and countless miles with no gearbox issues do I wouldn't worry. If your unsure then get an indie to check it. Also there's a company that do preventative repair for the chassis weakness, it's not expensive iirc.

The only way to properly check John is to drop the subframe. I had a good look at mine whilst the diff was out and it's mint around it so that's good enough for me.

I really don't think its the subframe. It looks mint underneath... Had a very good poke around..

Jambo its a very light bump noise only on changing gear sometimes

Jack one side up and see if you can replicate the noise by spinning one wheel just until the play is taken up in the diff.

ok mate, any side in specific? i read something about play being designed into one side of the diff and the noise is it taking up slack

so a quick update and some plans..

first up my pikey mod..
removed this

bought this

compared with this

fitted and cut a hole in the cold side of my airbox...cannot be seen either

and celebrated with this

i know its truely pikey but it sounds lovely, not ott but deeper... obviously there may be some heatsoak issues but i have a plan for this

i washed the car also but it rained as soon as i shamois it

hawk eyed will notice my purple/red foot mmmmm cherry

there have been some small issues:
1. the wheels look shit as fuck and super annoy me
2. the key fob is shit - temperamental at unlocking
3. the door seal is fucked

4. it does the cold running kangaroo

so my plans are (in this order)..

1. fit my private reg - transfering on thursday

2. new window seal - trying to find a car breaking
3. new key fob £130 grrrrrrr
4. remove imp from garage and bench, paint and put car in
5. massive wash wax session
6. remove wheels, front strut brace, kidney surrounds and interior trims panels and send them all to my mate to paint anthracite/gunmetal grey.... also have a rear strutbrace on its way which will also get the treatment
7. buy and fit some tein lowering springs 40 front 30 rear iir
8. remove and paint calipers a darkish red colour - proper job
9. make rears fully crimson or replace with led - smoked indicators front and rear - led sidelights
9. have trims and bits done gloss black aswell as a front lip which i dont have yet
10. have beardy louvre airbox corner of bonnet and then have full front and rear of car smoothed(bmw badges) and sprayed
11. spacers
12. exhaust
13. cool running mod from b and q
14. led dash lights and door puddle lights
15. german m badges
16. remap
17. enjoy

would like to say supercharg, coilies and big brakes next but this is probs a tad out of reach

Not sure? When you first start it, it kangaroos at low revs... Common and fixed by a bit of cheap b and q pipe from what I can gather
