Im going to a national park on saturday where there will be loads of animals and some stunning scenery. whats the best mode to shoot on to capture some decent shots. am i right in thinking that something like 1/125 is good for fast moving objects?

Personally I like to use my aperture more than shutter speed so lace my camera into Aperture priority and use the ISO to bump up shutter speeds if needed.
The thing with the wildlife is light changes way to much to be controlling all three, all day. Until you get into the swing of things then I would do as above so you don't get disheartened when all your shots are just "not quite right"

1/125 for fast moving will mean panning which can be tricky.
Aim for 1/1000 at least for moving animals without panning.

That advice will produce shots of animals with no motion blur to show the movement and can cause them to look odd if they are in mid-air.

It's a case of messing about with settings and see what works best. It's what I do and it's the best way to learn, you may well end up with 500 junk pictures, but you'll come away with a good bunch of cracking shots
