Yep. Last year. Stunning. Will definatley be going back.

We stayed near Lake Como for a week and then Lake Garda for a week. Rented villas both places.

Both really nice but Garda is more touristy with Eurocamp campsites etc whereas Lake Como is a bit quieter, a bit more classy and imo nicer of the two.

Did you try Bardolino? Ive been told its a bit more upmarket & bigger!?

Where did you stay and what time of year did you go?

Im looking late season, 1st week in Sept. Internet says avg of 27 Deg is normal that month. Im just concerned it might be a bit cold.

At Lake Como we stayed in Tremezzo.

We stayed in one of these apartments.

We went in August. Was v. hot. Low to mid 30's I think. 1st week September should be fine at 27 Deg?

I'd deffo say consider Lake Como. Depends what you are after though.

Flew to Milan not Verona. Booked flights to Milan (Malpensa), and hire car from airport. You'll need a car tbh.

Verona Airport is 137 miles from Tremezzo, Milan Malpensa is 54 miles. So its a case of judging whether the cheaper flights are worth the extra drive.

The roads once you hit the lakes are slow going, narrow twisties too which are busy in August, although may be a bit quieter in September. Took about 1.5 hours from Milan Malpensa to Tremezzo!

I'd deffo suggest a car. There is public transport obviously and you can get the boat across the lake to some places like Bellagio, which is easier, but with a car you can go to Swiss border/Milan etc. Just gives you a bit more flexibility. And obv with self catering, unless you are eating out all the time you need to go shopping for food/booze.

lakes are fantastic, my dad has been there before. I was planning to go last year but it was just that little bit too far south to get home on the planned day. Definately recommend it.
