How does one even go about getting a job designing lego vehicles, buildings etc? Relevant qualifications etc. must be a pretty fun job as well.

Read a bit of text from the guy that designed that digger, says that hes qualified in electronic engineering, but that he designs things with trial and error as its impossible to pre formulate a design

Pretty sure you'd need some kind of engineering degree.

That said, Lego are hiring like crazy at the moment and are renown for taking care of their own. So apply for something related to your field and as soon as you have your foot inside the door, you'll have a chance to rise.

Edit> Though if your field is accounting or something, maybe switching to development is a bit optimistic.

Sounds like a plan. Field being architecture i can do the buildings.

Making them comply with regulations will be a nightmare though

There's a how it's made/how do they do that or similar about designing lego stuff.

Also a recentish episode of mythbusters where they had a guy on to design and build a massive ball.

That is pretty cool but the bucket bugs me, that's not how they attach on a 360, looks like they've used one they previously made for a loader.

Can't wait for my son to get into this, probably with some gentle persuasion from me. He loves his Lego already but it's mainly City and Star Wars at the moment.

They did a blue roll on/roll off truck a while back that was brilliant too, the mechanism worked exactly like a full size one.

You'll be needing one of these to load then...

Horrible money now usually though.

Does seem very un-Lego, their attention to detail is usually spot on. It's not so much the size, more the positioning of the hitch, the front pin should be right on the top edge of the bucket.

My brother had a Technics 360 years ago, if I remember right it was red and worked off pneumatics, had pumps that you charged up then released levers to make it move.

This thing is seriously mind boggling, so much more complex than the Unimog, loads of gears, hate to think how long it took someone to cobble this design up

Heres my pics so far

Still got quite a bit to do, hopefully get it done tomorrow
