Changed all the brakes on the Meg a few weeks ago and also bought some braided lines but never got the chance to swap them. When i get the change to do them i want to change the brake fluid aswell.

After a decent DOT 5.1 fluid that doesn't cost the earth.

Any suggestions?

dont bother with designer brake fluid in a road car. Motorfactor 5.1 will be fine (if its glycol based already in there). Dont mix 5 and 5.1

You'll have to blled the brakes after swapping lines, yes.

If you know what fluid is in there, just bleed with the same fluid. Will prob say on the cap or your handbook if its a new car

Yea I get mine from a Motorfactors, £7 I think without any discount. Never ever boiled & I changed it after a year as it's a recommendation especially the amount of trackdays I'd done, but it was still the same colour as when it went in. Can't fault it really

So any 5.1 will do?

tbh the stuff that Rob R posted looks expensive and i need about 1.5L do do the full system as it clutch runs off the same master cylender.

the stuff that Rob posted is expensive - it has a higher boiling point compared to generic 5.1! Are you boiling the fuild?

What is in it just now?

Don't Renaults/Citroens etc use a different type of fluid altogether to the DOT Stuff?

Or is that just older ones?

If ur going to put DOT 5.1 in the best way ive found is to suck out the fluid thats in the reseviour and add the 5.1 then when u bleed the brake you'll see when the 5.1 comes through because the fluid is Blue. But u must flush enough through to remove any of the old fluid.

APL Racing Formula Dot 5.1 is Blue can get it from Halforlds in a yellow box.

What would be the best way to change fluid?
Blow it out of all four calipers and clutch?

And is it worth going to 5.1

Ive not put it i my car but my m8s said its good it makes the pedal feel firmer.

Dnt blow it all out u could mess up the master cylinder and cost u alot more if u dnt know wot to do take it to some1 who does.

if the brake master cylinder is seperate from the clutch cylinder then just do the brakes
