Hey guts never had a corsa before and thinking of buying this
http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/2002-vauxhall-corsa-sxi/87494216

any opinions? bit wary of the head gasket change

been told that all new headbolts, all engine gaskets replaced including the one behind timing chain. Oil and filter done twice after it using 5w/30 oil and yea the head was pressure tested and skimmed.

also will it be a bit gutless being a 1.2 or is there a bit of kick too it?

I had a 51 plate 1.2 SXi and sold it to me mum shes still got it now, they are slow like, but what do you expect for a 1.2. Shes made up with it I got bored in 2 months, depends what you want from it.

1.2 is pretty gutless but bomb proof, and cheap insurance.

Looks tidy enough for a grand. Prob get it for 800/900 too

fair enough ill only be using it for short-ish trips to uni and work and the gym so the gutlessness shouldnt be a factor really, but if it seems good for the money might be worth a go, can anyone recommend a decent set of alloys for it?

Seems cheap enough, although it should have smoked rear lights been an SXi.

If head gasket was done, did they replace the timing chain at same time? If no, why not?

If chain wasnt changed it will be noticeably rattely.

Bonnet dosn't look like its sitting properly, and the bumper looks like its hanging down under the passenger side headlight.

And the passenger side of the front bumper at the bottom looks mullered, and its missing the lower rubber splitter, and the sides have be de-rub stripped but the glue is still there, burn on the seat.

i had a 1.2 in my old corsa b and now have a 1.6 corsa and i dont notice a difference on fuel if im honest

yet the 1.4 astra i had was quite dear, must be the weight or something

as for the car in question, i'd go ahead and get it, 1.2s are bombproof engines imo

Id offer him £750 and see what he says. Its worth a try. Make sure you point out that the alloys are missing, lights are wrong and the front doesnt line up.

Engine looks tiny in that bay

Id say if your happy with it, get it. Don't be put off if it's had a bump or too, as long as it's been repaired correctly it doesnt matter . I'd Try get it for 800 notes
