depending on what its for i.e small repairs, i use £1store's finest. alloy wheel silver lol. almost identical to vaux star silver maybe a tint of blue depending how good your eyes are

Halfrauds paint is a crap colour match.And so is the Carplan stuff you buy from motorfactors.

Ive heard paints4u are good.

Theres an awesome place near me that mixes any colour into a rattle can for you for an alright price.

At work we use Supertune for aerosol's if we need any. About £15 a tin, but great paint, decent match, and dries quickly.

Not sure if they have a site.

I get all my paint from Fife Auto Paints.

£11 for a 400ml tin and the colour match is identical.They mix it while you wait.

Have a look in your local Yellow pages for Automotive paint suppliers.

My way I use a company called Morelli's.

Not cheap but very good.

not but i dont want something that will flake off easily, my experiences with halfords stuff is it flakes off very easily

probably spraying isnt one of my strong points im all up for getting halfords stuff as i get trade and its cheapish spose i could try a bit and see how it goes

whats the score with prep? degrease, will it need sanding etc?

Don't get Halfords laquer if you want any sort of decent shine.Its flat as fuk.

im not the best person to give advice but heres what i done. go over with your fingers to feel for any rough spots and sand them back, then clean it up with panel wipe. few coats of primer with decent drying time in between. lightly wet sand that back with 1200. panel wipe again then lay some colour down in the same fashion. give the base colour about a day to dry then go over with laquer. best to warm the tins up in a bucket of warm water first. i tend to spray the laquer slightly thicker than most people do. i found if you do light coats it doesnt look properly shiney

between 20 and 30mins depends how thick the layers are. corsasport21 has a point about halfords laquer, but if you lay it on slighty thicker you do get a decent shine and it flows better once its on the panel, but dont go mad

i think its the same, it does recommend drying times on the tin though.
