ive got a 1.4 sri (which is up for sale currently ) and had a vts before it. corsa is much better built and nicer to drive, and while the saxo handled better the corsa still handles well.
insurance is much cheaper on a 1.4 than a 1.4, cost me £390 f/c fo the 1.4 and was getting quotes of £750+for the 1.8

ive owned a golf a saxo and the corsa, saxo was undeniably better than the other 2 but the corsa was still good, the golf was terrible.
ive had to replace the gear linkage and reset my wiper linkage because the wipers didnt sit right

This thread is good because I am actually looking between a VTR and a 1.4 SRi, the VTRs are a lot cheaper to buy but a bit more expensive to insure

Check the insurance for the 1.8 SRi because you'll get the same MPG out of it as the 1.4 but you'll actually have some power behind it.

As said the Exclusiv has leather, SXI+ has half leather and I think leather was an option for the SRi but not many have it. The standard SRi seats are more supportive though, so I've been told.

Great improvement of handling when I put the Irmscher springs on, rolled too much before but now it feels a lot more planted. I've not had it on track or anything but it does pretty well on the road for me.

For a daily driver the Corsa will be more refine than the Saxo imo. I've not driven the VTR/S but have driven a pov spec phse 2 Saxo and the Corsa is the nicer car to use every day.

Like I say, I haven't had it on track, but it did pretty well on this road Was a fun drive when we weren't stuck behind tractors

Really? I've read the combined for the 1.8 is 35mpg and the 1.4 is 42mpg
