 | OK so there're threads like this popping up often but I don't care. My LCR is going soon so I will need a run around to commute whilst building my next project. I want something reasonably priced, comfortable and all in all economical. Budget is likely to be £1500-£3500 ish. Possibly more.
What would people recommend in this case? I was thinking some sort of diesel saloon ideally.
 Links and opinions welcome

 | Clio dCi, get a decent one for 2.5k with all the toys (Dynamique+) with 60k on the clock. £30 tax for the year, 55MPG realisitally all day long.

 | Haha smack on Fazza! I didn't use the Corsa when it was a toy let alone everyday! I do want something newer with some comfort etc.
Golf was my first consideration but man they hold their money! Clio looks a good option Pow

Who's Jim and why would I want a VR6 as a cheap, economical run around?

I go with this too. The basic model 1.5 dci were 12k new when I went looking. Ended up with a 307 which in all fairness has been my most reliable car and don't regret. Nothin wrong with modern French cars!

I seen a 14k 57 plate 1.5 dci go for 3k!! For a decent runaround you ant go wrong.
