 | Guy at work has a basic astra 1.9 cdti and its on around 50k miles.
The gearbox decided blow its load and vauxhall have quoted not far off £2000 to supply and fit a new one.

Did they fit these to any of the petrol engines excluding the vxr?

 | i'm suprised no one has confronted vauxhall yet, like M3 owners did with the alloy wheels that were cracking

is it exactly the same box though? or has it had different bearings or work done on it?

 | how come vauxhall dont offer to fix it rather then replace? its only a bearing or two usually needs doing

 | they will charge you £2k, take your old box, then fit £10 of new bearings to that and charge the next person £2k for it.

its a great business plan really

 | think you can sell someone a £23k car, then get another £2k out of them for it, and after 3yrs they buy the car of you for £6.5k

still, better to do that, then have an old car that might go wrong and cost you millions of pounds to fix

because they can't source the bearings and parts to replace them. Warren has to get the parts from elsewhere as vauxhall don't sell/stock them.

I had 3 and none of them went wrong so there is no problem with the M32 gearbox

Not the same box at all. The focus uses a Volvo unit, M66
