ok so my puma gearbox has had enough of my driving and decided to break. my insurance runs out saturday, so going to use it until then as i still have 3/4 tank of fuel left in it and only lost 1st gear so far.

not wanting to get a fine because of the new rule, when do i apply for it to be sorn'ed? don't want to do it too early else i won't be able to drive it to work, not wanting to do it once insurance runs out or i might get a fine.

ideas?

been there, read this:

When you have completed this declaration, a SORN confirmation letter will be sent to the registered keeper’s address currently held by DVLA and should arrive in the post within 4 weeks.

guess they can only fine you after a certain amount of time then?

They won't fine you, iirc they give you a month anyway, plus you could easily say you sorned it at this date (They should have proof) etc.

Just sorn it saturday, it will come up as not insured and on a SORN straight away, even though you dont have the letter.

Steve will have a spare box.

Does this now mean a VX220 will be here sooner rather than later??

it needs a service and new belts/waterpump also, so not really worth fixing tbh.
