Never had a contract phone before, looking to get an iPhone 4, What and where are the best deals? and on what tarrif.

I wouldn't use it much for calls or texts, more for the internet and something to do while im bored at work, as we aren't allowed to use their internet for security reasons.

Any help would be great.

I would stay away from 3 and o2. Both are shit.

Im with tmobile and i pay 35 a month for something like 500min and 500texts and unlimited internet. Plus tmobile have a monthly free bolt on thing and i have the unlimited texts one.

If you were to go into the tmobile shop and give them another tmobile number as a recommend thing you and the other person would get a free 25 quid voucher each.

Three and Giff Gaff (uses O2 network) offer Unlimited Data on a PAYG tariff; Three is £15 p/m (http://www.three.co.uk/Pay_As_You_Go/Add_ons) and Giff Gaff is £10 p/m (http://giffgaff.com/index/offer). I've heard that Three will throttle your connection if they deem you to be a heavy user, however the main advantage with Three is that you can tether.

Ive been with o2 all of my mobile life and they are shit. 3 would be good if you actually get a signal.
Tmobile and orange have combined receptions as well.

First phone was on 18 months. First time contract with o2.
Second phone was also on 18 months but i decided i just wanted a cheap tariff phone, which was boring and at that time i didnt care about the network.

The customer service was appauling.
They never contacted me once to say i was due an upgrade and when the contract ended all of a sudden my bill went up to £35 a month yet i was never told this at the start.
They told me after my second phone contract they couldnt do a deal on the iphone but when i phone to tell them i wasnt paying the cancellation fee, blah blah blah they then turned around and said they could do a deal on the iphone.

tmobile have better free bolt ons. they have offers which include things like dvd nights in etc etc.
o2 was never in touch about anything.

They wont tell you when are eligable for an upgrade tho - not in their interest

And your bill will go back to the undiscounted rate after the contract ends, thats common sense

Right enough i just have friends who get phone calls telling them they are due upgrades from people who work in Argos

I have never been aware of this, nor did i even think the price would change.

Thanks for the help guys. With regards to 3G, do different networks get different 3g i.e o2 and orange may get 3G in a certain location but t mobile and Three dont? Or is 3G just one for all?

Also is there a website where ou can see where you get best 3g connections with certain networks?

Every company is different, you'll need to check each operator, they'll all have a link on their website

TMobile and Orange share networks (Voda and O2 are next in the pipeline for network sharing) so they should offer the largest coverage (heard that their 3G coverage is 93% of the UK). But as Russ said, best bet is to look at the network coverage maps on their websites.
