yeah, soldered to the blue wire at the 9 pin plug, one in the middle, bottom row of plug. even if the stat is stuck open the temp sensor would work right? and the multi meter showed the little sensor to be working

Yeah but it would always be cooler, leave it til the fan kicks in if it gets there then you know it's not working as they kick in at 95 or so from memory

haha i thought about doing that but then thought if the fan doesnt kick in and it blows the head gasket i'd be gutted!!

anyway got the gauge to work!! stripped the loom of the old 1.2 loom for the blue wire and used the sensor off the old engine as it was working perfectly before removal. that combined it works ordered a new cts from vauxhall today, pick it up tomorrow. hopefully that'll cure the bad fueling problem

Ah good times mate! Do you run a lambda? Mine was overfuelling loads because I didn't have a lambda so i had to earth pin 20 so it didn't think it was running off the lambda however it did have EML before I did that

that's anothing thing that annoying me! the eml light never comes on at all. i mean when turning ignition on. there are wires from the ecu that are cut and also wires from the 9 pin plug that are cut but i wasnt sure if i should solder them together so haven't yet. i am running a lambda sensor but might get rid if it'll run better without and earth the pin 20 :/ what you think?

finally took some pictures last night

new tow strap on show, new indicators.... orange bulbed fog lights bolted on behind the grill instead of shitty side repeater in the bumper! still have crappy looking holes in the bumper now though

close up also shows engine sitting nice and level

also a bit less front camber due to new adjustable top mounts

ended up chopping the bulkhead like sweeney todd to fit the powercap because the ecotec pipe i ordered from redtom didnt show up in time. the fuel guzzling air filter stayed because i couldn't get the pipe work to fit between the powercap/MAF/standard airbox :/

this is staying on the top corner of the windscreen though

i keep getting worried about the engine temp, even after a half hour drive of mixed driving ended with the temp gauge like this

even idling for about 20 mins at the garage for an emissions test tonight it didn't go much higher at all would that mean it has a cool running stat? and the fan didnt kick in at all either, the heaters have been on full hot since back on the road but today the fan was on speed on 1 all the time i think

comments welcome

thats where the temp sat at on mine when i had it. thought it was a seized thermostat so put a new one in and it still sat like that but never caused any bother so i ran it like that the hole time. as for the whine in 5 gear i honestly never noticed. lol

hope your happy with the way it preforms. its a really strong engine, pulls really well.
p.s sorry bout the spark plug cover bolts there in the door pocket of my car

cheers lads!! it pulls like a rocket most the time (for people saying they arent that quick, i'm talking from being a 1.2 previously) but half the time its juddering and hesitant. the emissions test today showed it was running very lean. HC i think it was should be 1.5% or something and it was ranging from .3 - .6 :/

i'll sort some bolts mike, its fine!

sort your life out dan and get it in and running!! i'm well happy bar the minor running issues
