Has a big aperture which is good for them indoor low light pics that need a fast shutter, focal lengh is fairly good. 
 
It's good for a point and shoot if your just using it for this and that as i see your getting a D50 for them decent pics. 
 
quite alot tho for a general camera though, you can get pocket camera's like Exilms that have bigger apertures, high ISO's and similar focal length for £90.
