As there are more x18xe1 conversions popping up on here, I thought it might be a good idea to post this.

Its a fix for the lumpy idle/EML/throttle response issue that plagues a lot of x18xe1 engines. Most garages will tell you it is a common ECU issue, and will try to sell you a new ECU kit which is costly to say the least. I've been trying to sort the issue for a while now, and came across this on AOC which seems to have worked a treat.

surely this is just doing the equivalent of ebay resistor chips and disabling the MAF thus overfueling your car

Ah right OK, well in that case I havn't got a clue mate. I've spent £200+ on sensors to no effect, so this was really a last ditch attempt, but it worked...

Two? I thought it was the one yellow wire from the MAF?

Have you had any overfuelling issues?

Just done this tonight, seems to have fixed my issues...

Though, I found that earthing it to the bodywork (even after sanding down to bare metal) didn't help and made it worse, it wasn't even staying running, would fire then die out and not even want to rev - strange as I used my meter and checked the earth continuity from the soldered joint and was getting it all over the engine and bodywork - when I terminated it directly to the engine, it seemed to sort it straight away and now it pulls nicely and without lazy revs or any misifiring.

Off out in it tonight to give it another run, will see if it behaves!
