Took it for MOT this morning, Picked it up after work and it... failed Both handbrake cables.

Ordered new ones, Hopefully get them sorted by the end of this week and get it down MOT next week.

New handbrake cables fitted, Although I want to adjust them up a bit more.

Started on the speedo that has been temperamental the whole time I've had the car, Tracked it down to the speed sensor, Started on it this morning, Sensor fell apart apon trying to remove it, Great. Eventually pulled the bit stuck in the gearbox out and bolted in a spare sensor.

And then....


Yay.

Will get the car retested someday this week if I finish work early enough.

Rubbish update but ends a lot of hassle.

did you find out much more about the MEC on the reg (mines the same) iv heard that MEC means it was registered near Cumbria area or something along the lines of that
