"Manual specifies knock control will adjust the ignition timing to suit the octane of the petrol used.
Also advises power and torque drop as does the fuel economy, slightly."

Why would you run a performance car on anything other than what is recommended?

It's like idiots driving M3's and driving it around on Sava tyres WHY? Why would you do that?

quite a few people on the corrado forum only run their VR6 on super, saying it doesn't run right without it

i use normal unleaded from any petrol station and have tried these super fuels, which just cost more and i found i actually got less mpg from it.

This is the truth, not all of them do it but running it on better fuel prevents it.

So you are saying that a VXR run on regular unleaded will 'eat pistons'. How will this happen if, as adiohead posted, the knock sensor adjusts the ignition to suit?

I'm not saying that super will have no effect, just that it won't kill the fucking car. The internet's done away with common sense now, it's actually sad to see.

People on forums can always feel a difference from 1.0 engines up, I never have on any car.

can 100% tell the difference between unleaded and normal unleaded, same as before on the mondeo. Its proven it does have an effect albeit tiny on small powered engines.

Burping before you embark on your journey has more of an effect in normal cars tbh.

Your scooby is probably mapped for it so will make a big difference.

I think a lot of people just try and justify spending the extra.

Same with diesel on the vag forums, everybody runs a shot of millers with every tank because they can notice a difference between that and v-power, no idea how they can tell.
