Well as some of you will know my beloved Corsa 1.2 track weapon has been put into early retirement after I put it into an armco barrier

As unfortunate as it was, we can't just dwell on what once was, and so Version II is born

After a kind offer from Tom_Simes, Ian and myself had a roadtrip down to South Wales to collect the base for this new project

After being sat untouched at the farm for a few weeks, we moved it back into the garage today and made a start, nothing major, mainly emptying all the loose interior bits that Tom had left in to get them out of his way, once cleared I took on the rooflining whilst Ian set about removing the spoiler before the bootlid gets thrown in the 1.2 shell in time for it's trip to the scrap man so now the interior is all out bar the driver's seat (just incase it needs moving).

We also happened across an opportunity for a little more weight saving, nothing major but as with the 1.2 shell, the spare wheel well is passed it's best so that'll be getting cut out and replaced with a ally sheet, which is also the method being used to replace the weighty sunroof.

Plans for now are basically use suspension, seats etc. from Version I but because this will be purely for track, it opens up more weight saving opportunities that weren't possible with Version I still being a daily driver so it's gonna be lighter, I also forgot to mention there's a slight engine upgrade too, so I should be starting with just over an extra 30 bhp due to the X16XE that was included with the new shell

So I should hopefully be causing some embarrassment to more faster cars over the years track events

Yeah, since the day after I crashed it, I've not really looked at it negatively, apart from my injured hand which seems to be finally getting itself sorted out and the fact I'd had Version I for 5 years so obviously sad to see it go but other than that it's brought so much good, an improved track car, I'll be getting a daily/towcar soon so it's just kind of pushed everything along a bit quicker. Won't be making a habit of crashing though, I got lucky this time, the future may be different
