Afternoon

Thoughts and opinions on these?

This one in particular...

http://www.usedcar.citroen.co.uk/national-used-car-locator/Citroen-C2-4399259/?makeId=261&modelId=1538&variant=1.6i+16v+by+LOEB+3dr&vehicleTypeId=1

I know the diesel is supposed to be very good with the HDi engine etc. I know its not going to be a rocket ship but from what i've read they handle very well?

Make a good noise when nailing it...thats about it.

The drivin posistion is stupidly high, they rev way to much on the motorway (touhcing 4k at 70 mph), Really small.

Handle ok though. I wouldnt bother.

I like the look of them, can't comment on anything else since I've never driven one.

Seem decent, seen a bargain one at local auction about 6 months ago, 05 plate, 40k, FSH it went for £3,000

Think the VTS is the only one with a proper gear stick instead of shitty paddles. Not sure though?

I used to drive my mums C2 1.1, now im not gonna say anything about performance cause, well it aint got any BUT the seating position was good for me (im 6ft 2) but it might aswell be a 2 seater as there is no room in the back!

Also the petrol gauge is irritating as hell beacuse its just 6 lights so you get in and its like "sweet i have 4 lights" pull out of the space POW 3 lights, i just found that irritating

I've got a vts hdi, handle well, 0-60 when standard is good, look ok.

Mine is on 52k now, just over 2 years old and never missed a beat. I've had quite a lot of work done to it, but if you want a little more speed/economy a remap will put it to 135/150hp very easily.

Fuel, mine will do 60mpg sitting at 80, at 70 will give back about 65/68mpg so very economic.

Any questions give me a shout.

At 70mph in 5th mine will be just over 2k

Drivers seat can be lowered using the stick on the right hand side, most people get in mine and think its too low.

I wouldn't say really small at all, masses of room in the front, I'm 6'4 and have no problems. in the rear there is very little leg room when the seats are all the way back but how often do you have 4 people in the car.

Boot is a fine size, I've fitted 4 suitcases in boot before. Folding tailgate aswell

The link you posted is a little overpriced IMO. And its the petrol.

And a picture for luck

a mate of mine has one, i just can't get over the low quality interior plastics

it's a throw-away car, doesn't feel like any part of it was built to last

Aron, what phase is his ? The early ph1's were quite terrible, ph2's and ph3's are imo much better than a lot of the cheap modern car's nowadays.

Also what spec is his ? The sx, furio and vtr had some very gimmicky plastic parts which in the ph3 vts are metal.

granted it's an sx '54 plate, but honestly, the dash itself is cheap nasty hard plastic, the doors sound hollow and flimsy when you close them, the switchgear feels cheap... i could go on lol

i'm sure there must be better ones out there, but from what i've seen, just not in the same league as the corsa d's and polo's/lupo's i've been in

their apparent 'value' seems a false economy given they feel like they're only meant to last 5 minutes

But for the same spec corsa or lupo (1.6, low mileage, less than 4 years old, petrol, manual) you would be paying an extra 1.5k to 3k. The build quality isn't worth that much difference.

pound for pound it makes sense if the age is important to you, can't deny that - my point is it says alot when a 8 year old polo is built better than a 4 year old citroen, i would rather buy on quality and not relative 'newness' - but that's just me

Rang adrian flux at lunch to check insurance to see how much i'd get back

As it is a lower insurance group, turns out i will get back...

£0 it works out the exactly the same to the penny.

I am assuming the car being newer and worth more , cancels out the older and bigger engines golf?

I agree with aron about the quality. My mate has a 57 (i think) plate vts special edition and is by far the worse made car i have ever seen. The interior is very flimsy and awful quality, as is the rear seat and the general design of the interior. The doorcards are very uncomfy to rest on and as for the exterior, i opened the bonnet and was amazed that even the top of the wings wernt sprayed.

They are growing on my looks wise and some models are fair quick but the quality would definetly put me off.

Great little cars mate, ive had 3, an SX, a VTR and a VTS. Perfect for round town but i did some europe runs in them aswell and they got very tiresome. ALOT of road noise but as long as you remember them for what they are and dont expect too much from them you will not be disapointed. Give it a long road test, including a motorway run for a junction or 2 and you will see what i mean. Bloody good laugh the VTS was though, love the look of em.
