Basically i'm thinking of getting a Corsa C next year and getting a Z20LET put in it, i've found a company not far from me that supply and fit everything, so basically a drive in - drive out service.

What are the weak points of the engines? I've heard about the turbo's being common problems on them and people upgrading to VXR turbos. I wouldn't be modifying the engine too much as i reckon just short of 200bhp in a Corsa C would be plenty

Anyone ever owned or been in a Z20LET Corsa C?

Cheers!

Not owned or been in, but Turbo's can be common, some last for 30k, some last 100k, same as anything really.

Quite a lot of work to put one in a C though, wheres the place if you dont mind me asking, as im not far from you either. And how muchos??

It's in Halifax, so probably even closer to you! A company called MCD Vaux Conversions or something like that...

They quoted me £2800 with everything supplied and fitted and uprated brakes as well. Obviously it could be done a lot cheaper if i did the work myself, but i'd imagine i'd get some sort of warranty on the work done, and i don't have to lift a finger!

Only thing is, you start to think you can beat anything, and then get owned by Evo's and Scoobys & get laughed at.

I'd never think i could beat one of them to be honest, they're a different league to a turbo corsa unless you have big power, but even then they'll get the power down alot better

Ive had mine 10 months now, only reason I upgraded the turbo as I wanted it for the remap, 110k on the old turbo and its still in decent nick

Only time I ever had engine troubles with mine is using an atmospheric dump valve, fucks them up something awful. Keep it recirc and it works perfect.

There some positives about the engine then! I'd contemplate an Astra GSi instead but i think the Corsa could be more fun and something different-ish...

What do people think the best gearbox is for the engine? F23, F28? Wouldn't mind 6th gear for motorway etc but aren't they problematic?
What other boxes can you use or is that about it?

I have had one for over 2 Years never missed a beat. I had vxr turbo on other mods 272 with 314 torque. Very very quick.
Same with everything look after it properly and it will look after you.

Maybe more fun, but possibly more too insure, harder to sell on?? Does that price include brakes or uprated suspension ??

My car is on 4th turbo in 58k, will last on higher mileage but round tow kills them ask any owner of the VAG car that uses the same K04 unit.

Upgrade to the VXR unit is a must, unless you want to look like the red arrows.

Might be harder to sell on but it's something i'd want to keep a fair bit of time. Just like trying to sell on a C20LET Corsa B really. The price includes uprated brakes, suspension would be easy enough to sort out myself.
