i have just got me a 2nd hand nikon d40 off a friend of mine, hes had no problem with it hes just upgrading..

but now im being told by people it was a bad move, saying about it could go any second and stop working due to the shutter life..

im new to this game so any info/advice is welcome

found outs its a recon and was bought about 6months ago and roughly done 5/8k shots..

anyone know if the shutter is replaced on recon slrs?

I had a d40 off a member on here. the mirror on the shutter broke after 3 months

Not really, I was using it and it started playing up. so i cleaned the body and it stopped working

No, there was a need for the dickhead because you thought you were clever quoting me when you didnt know the situation.

As it was my first camera i dont know what happened. it just broke and by me cleaning it i broke it more
