I emailed Ecosse yesterday to find out the advantages of there new forced air induction kit

This is wat he replied..

Steve

The Ecosse forced air induction kit is £145 + VAT and delivers cold air
to this already strangled air system. This conversion is for 106 GTI's
only, it should take no more than one hour to fit and comes with full
instructions.

The benefit of fitting an Ecosse air induction kit is to provide the
engine with colder and denser air. On average a reduction of 6 degrees C
is seen at the throttle body. It is beneficial to have a ram effect of
the air. This gives a funnelling effect and therefore the speed of the
air entering the throttle body is increased. We have seen gains of
between 8BHP - 19BHP on our rolling road with the forced air induction
kit,
Contents of the kit:

Stainless hose clip x 2
Air filter
Silicon induction pipe
Plastic induction pipe
Air box assembly

Give us a call on 01506 516 106 for more info or to order.

Regards

Tony

I reckon your looking at around 7-8bhp, 19 is a bit of a joke! But they're definitly the best indcution kit for the GTi along with the Pug Sport item

If you had a car that had full mods, etc and set up then i think you will be looking at higher bhp.

19bhp is prob the effect after a few other mods like exhaust, chip, etc etc.

19bhp does seem a lot, but i've heard a lot of very very good reports about the sealed induction chamber!!

Don't want to p1ss on the bonfire but the ram-air effect is really very tiny. You need to be travelling at well over 130mph to get even a 0.1 bar increase (10% increase) in pressurisation. And even that assumes that the cross section of the intake area is at least as big as the sealed volume inside and that there are no obstructions along the way. Having said that, anything that reduces the air intake temp has to be a good thing. Would be good to see a before and after RR plot Steve!

Steve, you know it makes sense. regardless of how big your gains will be they will be far greater then a drilled air box or heat hoover induction kit
