Stu Harris from Vauxhall posted this on VXRonline today, wish they had finished it. Thought it was interesting, I'm sure this will be one of those triva questions people talk about in years to come like the L-reg Nova GSi's and compound charged Vauxhall engines.

No RARB.

But it was an adjustable set up , spring platforms et all from Eibach

Engine std , mechanical LSD (not quaife and tbh we'd never heard of the company) . We were looking at fitting the pulley kit from the VX220 turbo to allow for none A/C but this bit was never finished off.

Ronal alloys but with Dunlop sportmax tyres

We'd of had to sell the car with the regular Recaro seats as the type approval was only done with side airbags. Then as a dealer fit option a set of fixedback Recaros would be available.

Rear was gutted. We sell an Astra Sporthatch panel van and so we'd fitted the rear carpet and covering from that over the back of the car , fitted perfectly. Cage was rear only. In total 75kgs less.

Brakes were the AP kit, foglights removed and duct for cooling.

Some people saw the car on a Nurburgring trip, and its also on some video. It wouldn't have been cheap....in fact the car now sits in a car park in Germany....

Still we've the Corsa to play with now

Vauxhall made a stripped out lightweight version of the VXR to match the Megane R26R but it came about at the start of the recession so it never got finished or went on sale.

A prototype car exists though.

track based cars seem a really popular thing for manufacturers to produce at the moment as the special editions.

Only reason I ask is that I've not seen any, was wondering if it just never came to light. That's good though.

I've seen one VXR-R, and it looked considerably faster than other VXR's, I'd have one. Vauxhall should do an R26R style car, would take Renault down a peg.
