Its still up there really. Small, light, practical, zips around the traffic. Bit like a tall mini really, without the handling, but with the nippy zest.

Plus I could get a dump valve bruv....

Mk3 golf gti 8v

Feel solid as fuck to drive, comfortable on the motorway at 80, 1k will get a minter and my girlfriend gets 45 mpg everyday in hers. Parts also cost nothing. Plus you get all the electric windows, locking etc

Agreed! I always got between 45-50 mpg out of mine. It didn't seem to make any difference how I drove it. Really reliable as well

I'm in the same boat, don't really want to drive my car over winter / commute in it anymore. I currently get about 200 miles to £50 of fuel.

So if I can get a car that does 74mpg I'd be extremely happy.

Both, Its the HDI VTS

The 1.6 diesel, but the 1.4 is nippy and a lot cheaper to insure.

1.0 Corsa's arent THAT good on fuel imo.Mines was doing 70miles to 10quid of fuel.My Mk4 Astra 1.4 16v does that with ease.Corsa can be driven like a granny to save fuel,but it really is frustrating.Goes no-where.I actually got rid of mine coz i was pissed off having to kick its hole just to get up to speed.Hitting a 60/70mph limit road from a junction is scary.Need to wait until its clear for about half a mile before you can pull out without fearing a car is gonna whack into the back.
