f16 is closer ratio so is better for acceleration but tops out at 137mph(i think) f20 has longer gears and is a stronger box not sure what its gear to 140+

Ohh right cheers for the info! humm i really don't need any more acceleration i'd never get the power down but then 140+ on the public road is just stupid imo!

What have you done to your valver to justify not being able to 'get the power down'?

nothing i just don't want to look like a chav in mcdonnalds car park trying to spin his wheels, yes ours will spin much better but i'm not into that.... nah my engine ain't majorly modified i just think the f20 would be more practical through the early gears and over taking isn't really a problem either... i'm sorry if i offended you

+1 .. dont know why people make such a fuss over what box to get . the engine is pretty much just as capable with either the f16 or f20

haha shame theres not alot of info to what vehicles they are fitted to.. there is a way of fitting the smaller gearboxes to big block engines and then you can used standard diesel shafts but fuck that! wouldn't last and 3rd 4th and 5th would be insane if it could hold out!

Really? what and the gearboxes lasted? my mate breaks alot of vauxhalls and is always coming up with something to make.. and he ways toying with the idea of a 2l 8v on a f13 with diesel shafts, i think you have to change the flywheel and clutch for it to fit but am unsure! but thing got in the way and he didn't have time to fix it if it broke so he sold it all

The gearbox best suited to the C20XE is the 1 that it had fitted from factory......F20......If any of the others were any better, then they would have used that surely.

Oh and XE with F20 fitted will top out at around 137 real world speed and not 140+.
