Another tasty car that I've had the privilege of working on - this one posted up by request of Deano87

Yup, an E46 Alpina B3 3.3 Convertible.

No machine work or detailing, just a damn thorough valet - stage 3 valet and hood clean / re-proof.

Pics are rushed so not brilliant as I was dodging heavy rain all day - hence the car being only half out the garage too. First 2 hours doing the initial wash, de tar and roof clean I got absolutely drenched

From what I gather it's mega rare in this colour - certainly wasn't expecting it to be this colour when I turned up! Ended up talking to him as I was leaving about maintenance and a possible full on detail on it towards the back end of summer onwards

So just a few pics for you, cba with a write up!

Just had a respray on the front bumper, didn't notice till I looked back at this photo how poor the job is

Wish I'd got a before of these, they were black and thick with tar spots!

Never knew they came with an umbrella in the passenger footwell either

How fucking gorg is that. I love Alpina stuff.

There was an early E46 saloon in the BMW garage opposite work. 80k miles and still £10k!

The fact a BMW garage puts a 7 year old car on their forecort tells you Alpina's are something special.

That one has missed out on the blue piping on the seats - really expensive option though.

Cheers for the pics

EDIT: Notice the buttons on the steering wheel

Yeh they don't hold their value that well considering how much they cost originally though! But being Alpina they're special. This ones only done just over 14k on a 51 plate and as I say, is a rare colour

EDIT: Yeh buttons are cool - I was expecting paddles to start with!

I know they are rare and OE but I hate the wheels and wood trim.

I'm not keen on the wood.

But Alpina's are designed as a sports tourer type car - refined power. Love 'em.

Wood trim no, wheels, yes but only on certain ones - not much of a fan of the front lip either tbh. Wheels are an utter PITA to clean too!!

What colour is it then?? Looks like mine but less blue! Its almost like the E90's silverstone II colour!!

Not a fan of wood either, I think these are aimed at the older generation who want some punch but dont want an M.

Yeh it's Silverstone apparently. I thought it was the same as yours tbh, but now not sure! What's yours?! I'm useless at colour names lol.

It is quite "old man" but is still quite cool - not mahoosively powerful for a twin turbo I thought - 276bhp?

I made a point of asking the owner what colour it was and he said "the one used on the older M3's and M5's, silverstone or something" so that cleared that up

Out of the 2 you've posted, I would say the same as yours. It's a 51 plate so can't imagine it'll be the newer colour - probably just my pics?

Oh no I dont think it would be the 2nd one for a second, it wasnt available until 2005 on the E60 M5. I thought it looked more like it though.

Silverstone (mine) has been available since 1998 on the E39 M5.

I just didnt think this looked as blue as mine!!

I would have one of these in a flash if they did a manual.

The B3 3.4 has 304bhp, nice amount for a car like that

Cheers all

Worst bit was the roof! Was covered in green / yellow pollen and sap - even after a mega clean it still isn't that great up close
