Yesterday and several other times since having my GSi, i have hit the rev limiter in last gear , it does it piece of piss, just keeps pulling then hits rev limiter at like 132mph ish!? In none of the cars i have owned before have i ever hit the rev limiter in the last gear.....

My main question is... how do i get more top end do i have to change the gearbox, or is there some other sneaky sneaky way!?

Powerbox, to aid the airflow at top revs.

Increased rev limit, 7500rpm, and some rod bolts (ARP) to stop the pistons coming through the top of the engine.

Im sure you can get WR and SR F15 boxes, but if your bouncing on the limiter your doing about 127mph, which for an older GSi is good going as many wouldn't pull as far.

Unless someones put an F13 on it?

I dont belive it has a f13, im fairly sure its standard. Yeah its impressive to get a 15year old car right to it limit still!

Your 1.6 corsa pulls to the limiter at 132mph with no trouble at all and feels like it's got enough left in it that an extra gear would help you get it going faster?

Well i say 132mph, but i am trying to dodge dimples and pot holes, this thread wasnt about the speed im claiming to have got, otherwise i would have got some digital speed measuring device and i wouldnt have put 'ish' at the end.

It was a question you mug, heince why i asked it, i didnt state that it needed a gearbox did i....?

its got a 4 - 2 - 1 and decat, but if i am honest with you, i only got the car recently so dont know all the mods he has done, just going by what i can see. I know the engine was fully rebuilt 3k ago, all seals etc re done, certain bits n bobs replaced!

im not sure if the cams are standard!? its obv got the indution n bits n bobs n coils etc, i will take some pics n that of the motor, only got the one photo, n that was the one from pistonheads when i saw it advertised!

had a little tear with my freinds corsa sport, and its just gets left? its as if the engine are completely different?! (to be fair he only has piper X and cat back) part from that its standard

orite just cant image it would want to keep pulling much past 132mph on a flat bit of ground. my 1.6 sport done about 125mph

maybe not, it hits it rev limiter, even if somehow it could go past that, whether it would or not i dont know. its quite a healthy engine though!

it may not even be 132mph though, as you have to allow for error in the speedo, and the fact i am going relatively fast so its hard to tell EXACTLY what speed your doing. My main point is that it does hit the rev limiter in 5th, and you dont need a massively long road to do it either :-S

raise the rev limiter is really all you can do bar a new gearbox

I've easily hit the limiter in 5th in a 1.2 8v Corsa.
