get millers running in oil, and drive up to about 3k for about 200miles, then raise 500rpm for every 50 miles after that, dont let it idle for long periods and use the gears, dont load it up ie. 5th at 40mph and plant throttle.

or use a cheap mineral oil for few hundred miles

Run in for 1000 miles.

Don't just sit on the motorway for 1000 miles, drive through the gears and put load on the engine, not too much though.

Change the oil and filter after running it until it gets upto normal running temp, and then after 100 miles, then 500 miles, then again after 1000 miles.

Revs are important too, try not to go over 2.5k for the 1st 500 miles, and 3k for the last 500 miles.

After all that, nail it.

Theres an old theory, if u want the engine to be quick but not last very long, don't run it AT ALL. But if u want to be reliable, run it as I just said. The choice is yours.

2.5k is too low, and dont need to do 1000miles, if I wantd I could use the millers running in oil for 100mile at 3k or so, change oil and plant it, the oil is that good.
