A diesel isn't exactly different is it.

And what do you mean in this climate, what has the weather got to do with what fuel you use?

It's still not a massive jump over to using a different pump is it.

And from your previous cars it'll be a scrapper anyway so doesn't really matter what engine is in it.

i like to think i'll never buy a diesel. i like a nice engine note, and even a 1.4 4 pot petrol sounds better than a diesel imo

Although it's all opinion, I've no idea where you've got it from.

How is the engine note of a 1.4 corsa better than a diesel, does it even have an engine note?

How fast does a 1.4 corsa go, not very.

Ok, you like a nice engine note so the car you mention is a 1.4 corsa.

Not a clue how diesel got the reputation it has when people need to think about buying one.

I'd rather the best engine for the car I was buying, which these days is very often the diesel variant, including in the corsa c.

I was clearly addressing lee-wee, hence him replying to me inbetween.

You drive a hyundai and like it, which means you know nothing at all about cars, I've paid that much attention.

only reason i mentioned that is because its my current car, and just stating my opinion that i wouldnt buy a diesel mainly because they sound so bad that even mine sounds better. just my opinion of course, and yes i know its probably a shit reason to avoid a potentially good car

Your idea and mine are obviously very different ideas of whats 'best' as Diesel wouldn't even come into consideration of being the 'best' engine for any car I'd own, unless it was purely work horse.

It really depends what you want out of the engine. If you want lots of miles to a tank, then yes buy a Diesel. If you want a car that's fun to drive then it might not be for you, however you always have the option of the Skoda vRS and the likes, but it's still a Diesel at the end of the day.

All the best cars are petrol, IMO.

A modern high speed diesel engine will drive in a very similar way to a run of the mill petrol.
