nah i dont think so mate. i've had a few ebay items that were listed as being sent from the uk but turned out the came from hong kong. i never had to pay any import tax or anything.

If it is over whatever the value is, is marked correctly and goes through parcel force or fedex you probably will.

If it's low value, marked as low value or sent via a cheap postage method you probably won't.

yea ebay,

im trying to find another XFX 8800 GT 512mb Alpha Dog Edition so i can SLi it..

but nobody in the UK has one

All goods imported into the UK are liable to VAT and import duties. How much is down to the value of the item or type of item iirc

I ordered a dump valve from Hong Kong through ebay and got stung a month or so later with a bill.

If it's marked as a gift you shouldn't get stung which charges iirc.

I have had both a laser pen and a phone from Hongkong, both arrived within 7-10 days with no problems.

Nope - Gifts are still liable. It only increases the limit slightly to around £36 I think so this would get hit.

I had to pay import stuf on my psp when I ordered it from Japan before they came out over here.
