*****UPDATE*****
Big update!
Bought a 20XE off of Corsa_Power this evening!! travelled 76miles to Kent to collect it!

Got the 20XE with an F20 gearbox and a few other bits and bobs such as radiator engine mounts ECU and a superchip for a bargain
Just a few photos of the journey:

Setting off!

Car ready for the Engine

Engine in!

made the car a tad low, hit quite a lot of snow in the car park

all home safe and sound

I doubt it really needs a rebuild as such . . If i was you i would just give it a good service and and stick it in. Seriously!

*****UPDATE*****
Ok the last couple of nights been doing a little bit here and there on the engine. This morning i thought i'd get on with removing some more here's some photos

How it started

Started by taking the gear box off so we could mount it to the engine stand

Cleaned up the header tank - left it for an evening soaking in hot soapy water

Eventually after removing my step dads engine off the engine stand we carefully got mine lifted up. Sadly i didn't get any photos

Anyway started by removing the inlet and starter motor.

That's about it now.

Should get some more done this afternoon just having a break

*****UPDATE*****

Did some more work this evening.

Decided we wanted to see pistons by the end of the evening so set off by stripping the head and getting down to the block.

I'll let the pictures do the talking

Proof it doesn't nee a cat!!!

And that's where we left it!

Very happy with the progress we're making!

Going to stuff alot of it in the parts washer to get it all cleaned and de-greased this week.

*****UPDATE*****

Thought i'd update some bits ive been doing today and during the week.

Firstly i fitted a vectra steering wheel.

got a rear strut brace for christmas so i fitted that!

started by removing everything out the boot.

Then the sides for easier access

then the strutbrace on and the side back one

Then I cut a gap out of the plate to make it fit over the top

Then it was all in

So i put everything else back in

Went down the road not expecting much of a difference but i don't know if its me or what but the back end feels really sturdy and it seems to have cured a bit of understeer on more uneven surfaces. It feels really nice to drive!

Nice update mate

Are they easy to fit? I've always wanted to know how they fitted. Might have to invest one day

Cheers Dan

They're kind of easy but hard at the same time

taking everything off is easy but then when you get to the shock it can be a bastard. Mine thankfullly were fine. Putting it back on was fairly straight forward, i just wacked a drill on there and it did up fine
