with astra owners network

went to extreme motorsport at whitburn and the guys there were bang on, almost every car that had an idea what it should be running were hitting the right numbers and only two didnt, one of the boxed diesels was pinking and the other only got standard figures even though it was supposed to be remapped

very happy with what mines got as the only mod is a CDTi airbox, anyway, pics...

It replaces the cross over pipe. Shorter route

Also reduces heat soak as it doesn't pass over the engine

corsadonk is right, shorter route to the turbo, wasnt sure it would make any difference power wise but between 2k and 4k it pulls a lot harder with it on

What are these VXR's standard??240bhp??
So youve gained 18bhp just by replacing the airbox??

Just read that on AON.

It's really, really easy to tell if it's been mapped or not.

yeah, using tesco 99
well in comparison, the standard vxr that ran before me was near enough 240bhp and hellens who ran after mines was 248bhp and 259lb/ft

the 1.9 box makes the car pull harder from 2k up to about 4k rpm, not sure what the 2.2 set-up is like, got and pics?

if you can do it cheaper than buying it from a tuner then i would say it is worth it

this is a graph from the standard vxr that ran before mines, just for comparison

not sure what the 1.8 box is like, if it has the rubber mounts at the back that the torx headed bolt goes into, and u rubber lug under the box then it should fit

all the boxes are the same size. I have the 2.2 box on mine but i think the 1.9 box looks better, both do the same thing tbh. theres a guy on vxronline called percy will do you a 1.9 box air filter and necessary pipe work not sure on price. Also you need to route the breather hose back into the air system otherwise the cabin will smell of oil
