The light that indicates the handbrake is up comes on when im driving down the road and usualy comes on when i turn , but only in one direction, ive checked the hand brake is off and it is, the car passed an MOT and i noticed it afterwards, and the tester wouldnt have noticed it as he wudnt of had to turn.
Any ideas?

this happend to me on fast right turns then every right turn then was on constantly
had mot n had all brakes changed and new handbrake calbe n sorted now
check all ya breaks and ya fluid n cable

this happens to mine but i thought it was the brake compensator on the rear axel, as it only started when i put my coilovers on it.

i think its the handbrake cable itself used to do it on my sri just after i had a new cable fitted

Handbrake cable...... LMFAO. If thats the case then you need to check the switch at the base of teh handbrake its self. The cable has nothing what so ever to do with the light.
The only two things that can activate that light are the level being low or the handbrake switch playing up. If you levels low then you really need to investifgate why rather than just topping up. You may find that you have a leaky rear brake cylinder or your pads are worn to excess.

not completly true, you can hook a handbrake cable up correctly, if there is no tension on the cable, going round corners, may cause the light to go on. I've done it myself.

this happens to my car too and the cables was changed 4 month ago so they havent had any effect on mine. ive checked fluid and switch there ok do im of to change the reservoir.

WTF.... why would a wheel cylinder (what ever that is) be causing a brake warning.
It normally flashes when PADS ARE LOW resulting in LOW FLUID.
DO NOT just top up the fluid. Check to see if you need new pads (front & rear).

Wheel cylinder is what makes the brake pads push onto the rear drums!
COULD BE LEAKING!

the sensor isnt in the lid its on the left hand side as you look at it head on so would need a new reservoir

Assuming your running a rear brake drum set up the cylinder is what presses the brake shoes out to the drum. The seals are known to perish resulting in fluid passing them. Inturn this can also lead to contamination of the shoe linings. Your best bet is to get her up in the air, remove all four wheels and check your brakes properly.

I was trying to refrain from arguing this one any more but hey, i've got all night The cables them selves have nothing what so ever to do with the dashboard brake light. If they are not adjusted correctly, hence tension not taken up, they still have nothing to do with it. What that would point to is wear in your handbrake lever pivot. Technically all you are doing in tightening the cables is adding tension to the pivot point, effectivly a bodge repair The light in question is only activated through either the resevoir sensor or sensor at base of handbrake lever.

My rear drum brake cylinder went on mine, causing it too loose brake fluid and for the light to come on.

right, i had teh pads changed all round and the system done properly, so it wont be low pads, and it only happens when i go round a certain corner, think its when i turn right, i noticed it on the way back from it passing an MOT< ill have a word with my step dad
