i am looking for a decent photo of the Sierra RS500 which Colin Bond and Brad Jones raced at Bathurt in 1988. Its in the white and red Caltex livery with the red centred rims - not to be confused with the latter all red Caltex car.

All ive found so far are photos of the 18th scale Biante model (which i have) and photos of the guy's on Passion Ford who built the replica with the gold wheels.

bit of an odd one i know, if anyone can help thatd be great

Fooled me too. Didn't even notice until Andy pointed it out.

This is NOT the first time i've been fooled by a model. JR may well remember the last time.

Mike, i've got a hardback book of the '88 season at Bathhurst. I'll dig it out and see if there's any decent pictures of that car inside.

Sorry Mike. Bad news. I've just been through it from cover to cover and can't find a single image.

I've not been through the book before. I could have sworn it was either '88 or '88 & '89.
It says on the cover, '1987/88' so must presumably cover the '87 season with a possible '88 preview/prologue. Sorry to have mislead you.

I can only assume that team were not an entry until 1988 or possibly even 1989.

There's quite a cross section of cars in this book from various manufacturers and I think it's an Australian publication.

I would have thought it's safe to say it's more than likely an annual affair like Autocourse, so there may well be 1988/89 and 1989/90 editions floating around out there somewhere.

It is nicely illustrated so if you can get you mitts on the right year you'd probably get something reasonable to scan or copy from.

Incidentally, for what it's worth, this one features the red Shell and Oxo cars, the white ANZ car, the Allan Moffat Enteprises car and the Texaco/Ford entries.

Sorry I couldn't be more help Mike.

no problem mate, dont worry about, im sure something will turn up. it just seems to be a troublesome car to find an image of!

i think it only raced in the white and red caltex livery on a few occasions, maybe even only at Bathurst in '88, as in '89 it was changed to all red.

i'll find something mate!!

glad you like the models, thats only the Sierras, never mind all the Fords - you should see our spare room!!

I know the feeling. Our loft is starting to look like a Beaties' stock room.

The 1/10th and 1/12th scale stuff are the worst offenders though. The fuckers are taking over.

Thank god for lofts.

I've got quite a few 1/18th cars too. I only have the one Sierra. It's a black road version, but I do have both black and white road trim whale tail Escort Cosworths, plus silver road trim and blue & white WRC Escorts.

Also, works Escort Cosworths in Martini and Repsol liveries.

I still want/need the blue & yellow Michelin Pilot car and the original Works Zebra/Tiger stripe car, plus a Texaco RS500 and a Moonstone road trim Sierra wouldn't go a miss.

A red Roger Clark Cossack MK II is also needed.

The trouble is, all the Escorts and Sierras that were about thirty five quid are now all selling for the thick end of two hundred on ebay so i don't see how I can easily complete my collection.
