Picture the scene, Performance Ford trackday, Broster with a tank of fuel payed for by him and a couple of track passes and the Jamsport Focus RS running around 350bhp (Detuned as its in testing phase for intercoolers etc)
I didnt know what to expect tbh, as theres alot of crap been written, whilst i waited for mark to fill it up with fuel, i noticed all the pics make the interior look terrible, its better than new renaults and other french stuff and on par with vauxhalls, still lacking a bit from VAG stuff but thats to be expected IMO
out on track, its so diffrent to what i expected, yes it will understeer if pushed, but its so easy to push at 8/10 and be one of the quickest cars out their, in about 35mins over 2 sessions with broster 2 cars overtook us, a spaceframes fiesta driven by tommy field and a Air Astrana 3 door running about 10000000psi of boost (anyone that knows either car will know thats there pretty capable )
what impressed me most is how it deliverd the power, so so refined and smooth which is obviously down to ford/jamsport modding it, it feels like it came out the factory with how it makes and develops power, diff seems to be pretty amazing too
obviously alot of this is down to broster beeing able to drive it, but im pretty confident anyone with an idea could be very very quick in it
would i have one over a VXR, yeah but only just, but i havent got the cash for either
oh the Noise, not so much exhaust note (which is sexual) but the noise when you lift off is
8.5/10

what wouild be good is to understand if your experience would have been as good in a standard model.

saw the pics, looks really nice.
I dont think I've ever been in a ford on track. Possibly only driven about 3 fords in my life! I think is was bred to hate fords!
Be nice to see what its like against my Impreza. It runs 350 at full boost (but with misfires).. i normally run it around 1.2bar (330bhp). When are you next on track with it broster, and where? Or do you have lap times to compare with?
I'm not sure why though

Wouldnt that be a bit pointless? With the Focus having 90bhp more, and guessing the Focus will handle better, as most Fords handle better than Vaux, suppose the Focus may be hevier though? I know power to weight matters a lot.

Glad to be of service to you James, was a good day, what was interseting for me was to compare it against the other Focus RS that was out, seemed to have the same intercooler as us, and a milltek pipe and some form of lowering on it. Our car seemed to have plenty more grip and power.
The thing which has improved the car the most for me having drivin it over all its different phases is the wheel/tyre and suspension springs, this has allowed the car to carry so much more speed, obviously the 6pots help scrub it off a bit.
would be good to see how it compares to someone like ojc's astra.

i think its off the road now till the new year, got alot of development going on with mapping and the usual pipe work bits and pieces, we do as many track days as possible, a few of us are doing our ARD's test over the new year aswell so we can get to some test days and possibly go a bit further with it all.
will let you know when its next out and try to organise something.

Thats why it will be intresting, OJC can drive VERY quickly round brands, so can broster, i reckon astra weigh's less, and delivers power in a diffrent way

the other focus had nothing on yours, but then again he may own his one, where you were driving the companies one and have a very relaxed boss

James, 269bhp 340lb/ft
I'd like to see what you thought if it had road tyres and was totally standard.
I'm still 70bhp down but isn't it lugging an extra 200kg?
What is the torque figure of a standard RS and the JamSport one?

oh yeah, but even so, and mark knows this, yours "feels" quicker than the jamsport one
but if you compared times, its proberly very close, but i reckon you would be impressed at how it makes so much power in such a amazingly refined way

I disagree greatly.
You can still spin up the inside wheel (the one with least grip) even with r888s ... (thus losing drive out of the corner and the tighter line)... plus the wear rate of r888s are a bugger...
r888s on their own = good
LSD on its own = GREAT
LSD + r888 = ultimate dream team.
