Dont know how much it would be but when a friend of mine went into a lampost when coming off an island he got quite a large bill for the replacement of the post, nevermind writing his car off too.

To this day i still swear it would have been cheaper for him to have gone down the 10 foot ditch

Edit: Obviously if you went through the insurance, they would pick up the bill that the council will issue.

Take it you're fully comp then mate? With a cash in Lieu settlement you'd get to keep you're car and they'd give you x amount to fix the car yourself. From what I was told when this happened with mine you probably won't get as much as you would if you let them write it off. Just depands what you want to do with it really. Cash in Lieu settlement means it won't be put into a cat either, but if you think its beyond repair it might not be worth it In which case you'd just let them write it off and buy it back to strip.

Hope you get better soon

Tbh i'd wait to find out what its gonna cost if the councel decide to charge for the street lamp, 'cus it might work out cheaper in the long run to not claim on the insurance and pay off your own back if you can afford it.

As he went to hospital the car would have just been left there so it had to be removed from the incident so they would have taken it.
