Last time this happened was because of the rarb being on i think but just lost the backend of my car again on a roundabout not even going that quick just went all of a sudden atleast last time i knew it waz going to happen and i could feel it begin to go this time it just snapped thankfully roads were empty and wide enough for me to correct it and crap without hitting anything.
Really is suprisngly scary when it happens as really i have no control of the car.
Anywho thats my highlight for tonight lol

Must be a mk4 problem. Mine did it a time or two.
Scaryest time was coming off the m62 going onto the m60 near the trafford centre at the side of a lorry. Needless to say she was screaming in the car whilst i was laughing

what RARB have you got? the idea behind an uprated one of these is to reduce rear end grip & produce more front end grip on FWD cars, thus pulling you through / round corners while on the gas. Sounds like you need to uprate the front also to suite your driving style...

Interesting, Graham mentions his Fiesta as well which as far as I'm aware they all have the same setup with the semi independent rear.
I've said it before but people always say how the semi independent is better, but I don't agree. I think if you get it wrong with the semi independent rear it tends to happen quickly and you it doesn't warn you like say the rear setups on Corsa B/C where it's a gradual thing as it lets go and you can feel it.
They are brilliant in the dry as you can get it back into shape but put the unexpected into the equation and it tends to get dangerous.

Its not really a independant suspension vs rigid beam argument.
I think this is down to how well they are set up. e.g the rear end of my corsa was very much like the above which let go at random in the wet. These were the days when I thought as long as you got Koni's you'll be fine. Set up and tyres are critical in the way a car behaves.
My Mums ST170 has full independent rear suspension and my god for a standard car and a car of its size its planted wet or dry. Then again Fords always seem well set up and have decent driving dynamics even in their standard stuff.

Just spun the 106 this morning after some dumb ass bitch pulled out in front of me on an wet island. It locked up so I let off the brakes a bit so I dodge her then the arse end came out. Shit myself good and proper!

Could be down to tyres?
My gsi was the same bit of water and you could just feel the back floating around even at about 15mph
Set of decent tyres and it was fine
Are there issues with idependant rear suspension been a big unforgiving then?
CTR was a bit like that. Was grip, grip, grip and suddenly sliding etc

I had a fabia with an ARB.
If the back end comes out when you don't mean it to you are driving it wrong.
They don't just start coming out randomly when going round a roundabout slowly.

It increases front and rear grip, but reduces rear grip only on lift off

I dont find my bad and they are only 1mm off the limit
All depends on the car though. seem to suit little cars like saxo's but on things like CTR's they are too soft and a shite
