right my mum is looking for a new car. Can be brand new/delivery mileage/x demo etc

have been looking at A5, 3 series to replace her 06 plate civic

what she wants

around £20-25K
5 seats
can fit 2 sets of golf clubs
£35/year tax
60mpg

also wants leather
bluetooth
possibile satnav
full electric windows/mirrors
heated seats?

not bothered if petrol or diesel

Any suggestions folks

Wont get much brand new/delivery mileage/x demo from Audi/bmw for 20k.

What about a Mk6 Golf GTi?

a new golf bluemotion would probably suit your mums needs.

big enough, 5 doors, lots of kit and german so good build quality. not quick by any means but most women don't want fast cars.

mum liked an a3 convetible 1.6 was £35 tax
boots not big enough though

dad fancys something a little better i feel than mum but its her car at the end of the day

can be maximum 6months to 1 year old but preferably nearly new as possibile

had a look at a 318 se buisnes or something or other today, dad liked it mum wasnt really bothered but she knows nothing about cars and has no interest tbh

think it was priced at £24500 OTR

Dunno my GT tdi was fairly cheap to tax...not quite £35 but then I cant think of any cars id want to have that are!!

35 tax bracket is for your cheap shit runabouts, not a car you would spend this money on. And again, if they got this much money to use what does it matter if it gets 40mpg or 60mpg. By the sounds of it she isnt going to use it as a road racer so wont really matter too much?

@ at the £35 a year tax and 60mpg yet is spending £25000 on a car!

I dont think she is going to get anything that will do 60 mpg driving normally.

60mpg is polo bluemotion material & I didnt even know Road tax went as low as £35

think i am going to have to go and have a look at some with dad, he seems keen to get something a bit more flashy

mums just being tight


alot of newer cars seem to be around 45-50mpg which is pretty good i reckon

Never had anywhere near it in many miles over different styles of driving in either a 2002 Golf PD 130 or a 2006 A4 140 avant.

52mpg was my personal best driving as if I was on my last tenner!!

around 22-25k for 1 year old i quite like them
